Options LS3/Boxster AC and A;ternator
Couple of options. Please comment.
My L92 with LS3 bits and pieces is about ready to go in the Boxster.
To make the engine as short as possible I have a harmonic dampener for an LS4 installed. This puts a single 6-rib belt track at the corvette distance where the 4-rib track is normally.
My plan is to run the AC compressor and alternator both on the one and only 6-rib belt track.
To do this I will create an alternator bracket that locates the alternator on the lower driver's side. This is mostly a no brainer.
Where I have options is with the AC compressor.
1. I could use a Corvette AC compressor and mount that will locate the AC compressor exactly on the 6-rib belt track with very little shimming of the dampener. The problem that I could use help solving is the Corvette AC compressor has a 4-rib pulley and a 6-rib is needed. OR.........
2. I can re-purpose the Boxster AC compressor and create a bracket system on the lower passenger side of the engine and be done because the compressor has the necessary 6-rib pulley. The bracket is only slightly complicated because I would need to include the tensioner.
I actually prefer the first option. I just do not know if the 6-rib pulley is available for the corvette compressor. I know there is a kit out there to change the rib count on some compressors, but it would only work for me if I could also continue to use the corvette mount
Thoughts are appreciated.
