Early cars with the M97 engine (through 2008) have some oiling issues when tracked. They are quite reliable for street use. The IMS bearing is not a problem, and the 2.7 in the Base is not really susceptible to bore scoring (per Jake Raby). Pretty solid car, overall.
Oh, make sure you see a DME over-rev report for any manual transmission car.
I'm going to be looking for one myself as soon as I sell my '72 911T (will be for sale early next year).
