I'm not a pickup truck guy (despite having a Chevy truck some time ago) but a co-worker got a F150 Raptor (extended cab, not crew cab) in 2018 and DAMN what a vehicle. That proved to me that pickups don't need big engines.
He was always a fan of Ford trucks having owned quite a few, and this was his pre-retirement present to himself.
Back in the day, my old Chevy truck ended up not being able to take rough roads, literally falling apart. The cab to floor seams opened up and needed re-welding.
