I have a rattle in my steering column. It doesn't have any vertical or horizontal movement to speak of, but I ordered a Rennline bushing from Pelican, thinking I should just replace the bushing. Taking it apart I see that the visible part of the old bushing is intact. I poked it with a pick and it seems flexible, not brittle as is reported by others here. The thing is, the steering shaft is turning inside the bushing. The inner bearing race isn't turning at all. It even appears that someone has put grease on it. Has anyone else experienced this?
I'm torn between putting it back together and letting sleeping dogs lie, or replacing the bushing anyway. Advice?
