Many of the words in the story are used to illicit an emotional response. "Slugs teen girl" "Accidentally" "Porsche" "convertible" "investment banker"

While this certainly doesn't excuse his behavior, Its possible there's more to the story.

Often in these situations, things are exaggerated to portray one side as completely wrong and one side as completely helpless and innocent.

Guys lucky he didn't get shot though. especially in Florida, and maybe the girl will not piss people off next time.
