I've been doing it wrong then. .png is smaller.
I put all pics to upload in a folder.
Then open one using
https://www.irfanview.com.
Click File / Batch ConversionRename.
File type is .png. Output type is .jpeg. Click "add all". Click "use current folder" .Click "start batch".
The layout is funky at first, but you can convert unlimited files at once.
