Ok... it looks like the shift was never going into gear because of the rubber coupling seal was jammed up against the coupling. I finally just tie wrapped the seal on the tranny input shift rod outside (shouldnt creep back inside). Its now staying in gear position. Re-adjusted the coupler and took it for a drive without the gates and I think I like it better without the gates... I do need to drive it some more, but I guess this is the setup for the Karsten17 spring, wevo, rennshift and numeric shifter. Since all these are not gated...
One thing I also noticed about mu seine setup is that the tab that you are supposed weld on the shifter... well mine was not exactly parallel to the oem tab on the other side of the shifter... its possible that this is causing the clunky feel. Im gonna bend the tab parallel to the other one and do more testing...
