They do talk about that at the end of the third video and leave it open to interpretation.

In some ways he was acting a 'king' albeit a very bad one in terms of actually implementing policy. No bodyguards. No draconian measures. The legislature operated as normal. Julius have it a hard kick in the ass when stalemates occurred. But it also appears he was trolling the corrupt senator side with the golden chair and red shoes, and he expected them to come to reason eventually. He was well know for his pardons of past enemies and many in the Senate were among them. George Washington was offered ultimate power and refused it as well.
