That's me, and it's hereditary as my mom is the same. I had high cholesterol that I managed to drop by 100 points. Yes, one of the big changes was adding a lot more fiber to my diet. But what I believe the big difference came from was a drastic reduction of sugar. I almost (but not completely) got rid of sugary desserts/snacks, and monitored other food, and mostly eliminated foods high in sugar (other than eating some fruit, usually early in the day).

The theory is that sugar causes inflammation and inflammation increases cholesterol (IIRC).

Lots more fiber and lots less sugar made a HUGE difference for me (I think I went from 265 --> 165 or something like that)
