I have just purchase the big bore BMW R1200 GS/S/ST/RT/R 2006 - 2009 103mm Bore Wossner Racing Piston Set (x2) for my R1200S.

Can I ask - Can i run the standard conrods with these pistons or do I need to purchase race conrods?

I notice some people are buying 128mm conrods to replace their 125mm rods - what am I missing here, surely something else would need to change to accommodate for the extra length......

Thanks in advance.

Scott

Hi Scott, you can run the stock rods as long as the wrist pin holes are in the same location relative to the piston deck (top). Wossner had made a high performance “kit” that utilized 3mm longer rods (128mm c-c) to slow down piston speed, and reduce forces towards the cylinder walls. If you have the pistons with the relocated wrist pins you will need the longer rods.
