1 - anybody have a couple of door lock cylinders with the tumblers for a reasonable $$ so I can Jethro Bodine my way through learning to reset the lock on the passenger door?

This is a super easy project . I always look forward to taking a door apart as it is a good time to sort of give the components a good cleaning and lube.
as for the lock cylinder and re keying its is very easy. the lock cylinder has around 9?
wafers that are a combination of 4 different possibilities of size.
a no brainer way to re key the new cylinder is to take apart the known cylinder (drivers)
and measure the shims and order and duplicate the new cylinder. I dont need to do that. I have whole tray of shims from all the years of dealing with these cars. with the lock cylinder out of the door handle, just play with the shims as you put the key in the cylinder the key pushes the wafer flush with the tumbler and you can see if the wafer is sticking out then next size smaller if the wafer is shy of flush then put in a bigger one..
you can even cheat and take the tumbler to the grinder and grind the wafer sticking out flush as a last result .(you didnt hear that from me)
the trick is to have the best key availible to start as an old worn out key doesnt have the steps positive enough to push the wafers and that is when you get a lock that you have to sort of jiggle.
i hope this helps you can search the forum and find a better written how to im sure

the wafers seem to be the same ones used thru a ton of differend german cars.. you can even buy a new little kit of sizes all in little tray
