Based on the description, the car could easily be worth $30-50k+. So much of it will depend on the condition though, $15-20K. is ridiculously low... We recently sold a very nice 77 911 for $60k.

The market is exceptionally strong right now, but you need to find someone that can assist in determining the condition of the car, and help with the sale. It may be worth putting a few $ into it to get it running well if possible.

If the car is indeed original paint with a clean unique interior, runs and drives and does not need significant work, it could bring $40K plus.

My recommendation would be to have the family get the car to a reputable shop and have it assessed, then find a reputable dealer that will consign the car and put it on Bring a Trailer. That will determine the true value and maximize their return.

Trying to sell it without an advocate who knows these cars and what drives the value would be a mistake.
