Euro 930 Engine and Tranny serial no. mismatch
Hi, folks.
I'm trying to figure out engine/tranny serial number logic on my '84 930, and/or the possibility of whether the engine has been swapped out. I have no paperwork evidence that it has been swapped, only a serial number inconsistency.
The option sticker and Redbook (based on delivery date) say that the car should have "E" Program serial numbers on both the engine (67E) and tranny (77E).
The tranny number starts with 77E and matches the COA, but the engine number does not and has a 67F serial number, which the Redbook says they didn't start using until a few months later.
Has anyone else seen this mismatch? Perhaps they started using the 67Fs before the Redbook says they did... and the COA is incorrect... or the motor was swapped out for a slightly later one at some point.
TIA
