Not sure what the deal is with the AC not working but that's a pretty big deal for me. Considering the very good overall condition of this car, I would think it's something that is fixable.

A/C is always fixable, it's a fairly simple system in a car. Sometimes they just need a recharge, (maybe fix a small leak or two), and often it is a bad compressor that someone did not want to shell out the $$ to fix. This is seen a lot on older vehicles, especially in cooler locations where people can live without A/C. Probably not a lot of non-working A/C cars in Phoenix or Las Vegas.
I've owned several 240 wagons and even worked at the dealer when this car was new. They are indestructible but not exactly exciting to drive.
