Quick question on axle swap

Hey everyone,

I ordered new axels for my 89 911 as both were in rough shape, and it seemed the best way to go forward. On one side, the stub axel slid right in, but the other side the splines start to engage then stop with the only way to seat the splines further is with the 32mm nut. Has anyone had this happen before? It will be a real pita for the next guy to remove this passenger's side down the road as I have to tap on it with a block of wood to slide it back out. The inner bolts flush, and all seems in order, but those tolerances are not equal for sure. The old axel slide in no problem (or maybe not) , but that makes sense as there was some slop back there. Here is a pic where the splines stop easily sliding into place, the axel spins the hub but needs the mechanical pull of the big nut to move inward.

Thanks evyone for looking.
