Interesting, so for you 964>993.
I like the 964 well enough, but I think my heart belongs to the bellows bumpers cars, then the 993, then longhoods, then 964.
I also love targas. I understand why the coupe is more desirable (rigidity and weight) vs the open top cars. My first Porsche was a targa. The outward visibility was great, and I think the car looked great. It was also nice (not that I did it often) to be able to drop the top, but still be shielded from the buffeting wind that you get in a full convertible.
I've had the hardtop on my Boxster for about a year now. I don't really have any desire to take it off. I've even considered removing the soft top, but don't think I'm going to do that.
