That is exactly what happened to me as well. My son wanted a S&W Model 19 Carry Comp as a graduation present from law school. I ordered one from a local store and waited nearly nine months. The store actually recommend I buy online!
So I did. Flawless transaction through a local, veteran owned FFL. Gun in hand two weeks later.
As far as people looking? Buying a gun in Maryland requires a strip search with the State Police.
