Probably not a bad plan. Things are easy and tough in a car. In a car, you should be able to much more easily "run away" which should be the first course of action. If you're trying to get away, then making a call, unless you've got a phone integrated with your car and buttons on the steering wheel, might be tough.

If you think you need a gun, then it might be too late for 911.
