I see folks in the unplugged woodworkers group frequently making wooden spoons and most of them are pretty amazing. I've never tried it, but I'm sure mine would be similar to yours. Are/were you using wet wood? I understand that spoons, and parts of chairs are often made from wet wood. I think it's supposed to be easier to shape than dry.
