Supposedly this was a very common issue with 2011-2012 MINI Cooper Countrymans. The AWD combined with the extra weight, clutches only lasted less than 50K miles regularly. I haven’t heard of it being an issue on regular MINIs as they don’t have the extra weight and ALL4 system. There is an updated clutch material for R60 Countrymans but I don’t know about other MINIs.
I have a 2013 R60 Countryman ALL4 S 6MT with 170K kms (105K miles) with the original clutch. No slipping at all and I regularly push my car off the line as I’m a terrible driver. The flywheel was regularly making a Chewbacca noise when I bought the car at 70K kms but went away after about 5K kms. The flywheel components were likely sticking from the car sitting for a few months.
