I think many of those are folks who are newer to the marque and have done a little bit of BAT or Internet research. Back when these cars were 15k it may have mattered, but yeah a couple grand or so on a 50-100k car is nothing. The reality is plan on a few to many thousands to baseline and sort a solid car to know everything is right.

That said, 2003 tires and professional photos that polish a turd drive me nuts. The former may be a sign of neglect and the later is unfortunately the new world of used car sales.
