damouth gave the best tip here...compare performance on an investment with the indexes before becoming too pleased. One dirty little secret of the mutual fund industry is that only about 5% of fund managers beat the Wilshire 5000 in a given year. And in case Tabby is wondering, no I didn't read his "tip"...while checking track records, one should read the investment posts he made on the S registry board a few years back...they were "right off"...
