If I mentally squint, and dream of what may come, maybe, just maybe in the far off future we will have all artificial intelligence self driving cars that all interact and even communicate with the road, and maybe we can all ride in cars going 200 MPH in some areas. The laws of physics make 200 MPH something for the straight line roads only, no curves more than the most gentle of curves.
Back to the laws of physics, all forms of energy produce heat. To propel a vehicle at 200 or more takes a whole lot of power, and energy use goes up at an inverse square also a little more speed takes a lot more power. Maybe we will also have a Mr. Fusion power generator on every car. We will however never be able to use banana peels and trash as the fuel source and fusion or even fission only happens to elements with densities like uranium and above. It actually requires more energy that it produces to have a banana peel fuse, like in the Back to the Future movie. Ya can't change the laws of physics.
I suspect just from energy use alone we few cars will ever break 120 MPH in daily use.
