Not all drugs are bad , some are great.

But these days the amount of experimental stuff they use to mix up and sell as something else is scary.
The war on drugs just made it worse for everybody.. More competition, Higher prices More ruthless people doing all kinds of things to "brand" or "customize" their product in the market.. WAY more violent crime.. These days cooks and crooks will mix up fentanyl in a batch of whatever it is they sell, to add a kick to it... OR lace their packaging with it to kill drug dogs..
Especially in Latin America, and if they don't unpack it properly it gets in the actual package.
Fentanyl is scary stuff.. The russians used it as a gas for counter terrorism in their opera

It worked, the terrorists were all dead. (so were the hostages but oh well, Russia, they called it a great success. everybody dead, if we hadn't done this we would have had 150 of our own(swat) dead as well).

It's a sad thing if he is yet another talented person to die from the drugs, from my understanding the coronoer hasn't yet mentioned the word OD yet, or that it was drugs that killed him.. But its probably a very likely cause...
The gas used was carfentanil. There are a fair number of medical and veterinarian synthetic opiate meds that incorporate -fentanil and it’s easy to refer to them all as fentanyl but they each have pretty specific properties and very specific dosing. Carfentanil is a veterinarian med that apparently is odorless and very readily crosses alveoli. Because they can, people are using veterinarian meds too. https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/67/wr/mm6727a4.htm

Unlike heroin, the thing about synthetic opiates is that no poppy material is required so it’s easier to make in that way. Of course quality control isn’t very precise when there is no accountability.

Opiates kill by depressing the drive to breathe. Cocaine puts your whole system into overdrive. A lot of cocaine is spiked with fentanyl these days. Overdrive a system that runs on oxygen and depressed ventilation….
