With the advent of the ACA, medical plans all changed.
Deductible isn't nearly such a big deal as it used to be. What is worth looking at, is the "Maximum Out of Pocket" limit.
The deductible is typically for items that are paid at a lesser %. Labs, Imaging are the most common. Once you hit a deductible, the labs and imaging cost go to zero (I think!)
But, the other costs will continue to accumulate until you exceed the Maximum Out of Pocket limit.
While I do sell these policies for a living, I always defer the details to a staff member. What you should do? Call up the agent and ask them what this means and how to best move forward. They are getting paid to answer your call.
Good luck. Health Insurance sucks.
