I have two Lincoln pistol grip grease guns and years ago (like 30 years!) someone took the T handles from them as a prank or maybe they needed them more than I did.
Today I needed to load one for a job and disassembled the pump to clean. Looking at the threads on the follower rod, found the appropriate tap, drilled and tapped some 5/8 round bar and painted and installed it. Works like a charm.
My dad would have approved the method and the cost ($0). It makes me happy to remember my dad this way. April 1 was the 3rd anniversary of his passing.
