Last year I had an old, mid-70's Craftsman 1/2" ratchet that broke. Sears, where I bought it, of course is out of business. I took it into Ace Hardwire, they now carry Craftsman and I explained I bought this in the mid-70's when they had the lifetime guarantee. The pimple-faced clerk said no warranty. I went to the store manager and he said of course it is covered. Pick out the one you want. I selected a like replacement and was good to go.

I found it amusing that the generation that wants everything for free and believes they have a "hack" to get everything free, was the one that said no without hesitation. The old guy manager didn't bat an eye and replaced the ratchet.
