This sign along Route 66 in 1934 was a mile east of "Ashfork," Arizona (Ash Fork) to let motorists know the distance to the towns west on Route 66 and how far Phoenix and other points south were on Arizona US 89 from that junction. Of course, I-17 would not be built for some time to Phoenix and points south at that point.
