Iowa has speed cameras up all over the state. It is a major revenue stream for them. They were one of the first to use red light cameras back in the 90's. Even though they have been ruled uncostitutional by the state supreme court, they are still up, active and sending tickets because cities can't afford to get rid of them.

The most profitable camera is on I-80 in LeClaire when you come off the Mississippi River bridge from Illinois. The speed limit drops from 70 to 65 and no sign indicating the change until the camera has already caught you. And the cameras will get you if you speed up going the other way back into Illinois.

From the news:

With two months still to go in the year since LeClaire’s two speed cameras have been issuing tickets, more than 88,000 motorists have been cited.

By the end of January, the city’s camera vendor, Sweden-based Sensys Gatso Group, had levied $6,310,150 in fines.

Of the $4,331,375 collected in speed-camera fines to date, the city’s portion was $2,214,110. The remaining $2,117,265 went to Sensys Gatspo, city records indicate.
