Apparently speculated he had surgery for same problems in 2020, and was supposed to have surgery this april, but will hold off until after the May 9th parade, and will let Nikolai Patrushev take control.

Interesting video I watched a while back by McFaul, former US ambassador to Russia in which he talked about Putin's trust in fellow FSB/KGB members over military leaders, causing a stilted makeup of Putin's inner circles. Not surprising he'd use his fave buddy to help out. If true, will be interesting to see how loyal he really is.
