Thank you. I always try my best to not be "that guy". Getting through the slower cars cleanly and quickly is skill I continually work on. It pays off to be better through traffic than your competition!

But segment timing, which I suspect Scott does, ought to answer the "which way is faster" question for a given car. Though this also involves the calculation of the time saved by a shorter route versus a longer one, which complicates analysis.
But, as we tell our novice students, there are places to experiment with the edge or 11/10ths, and places not to. 15 would seem to be one of the latter. Especially if you have the legs of the other cars.
