I had to replace a water heater in one of my rentals. The only water shut off was a gate valve and ball valve at the meter. The meter shut off is defective and does not shut the water off completely making sweat soldering very difficult. I used a shark bite ball valve as a replacement for the gate valve. Very quick and very little water on the floor. I like them a lot.
