I still sweat plenty. Antiperspirant doesn't really stop sweating in my experience, but it does stop the stink far more than deodorant.
On a related note, there have been times, maybe once every 3-5 years, where I realize I forgot to put on antiperspirant the previous night. I generally notice because I notice a smell at some point during the day. Once I was at work and noticed. I had some sort of anti-bacterial hand spray that was basically just alcohol and water. I sprayed it on my pits and the smell went away.
My understanding of the smell is that there are bacteria that live in our pits and crotches, and when you sweat, those bacteria live off of the sweat or what's in it or something like that. Those bacteria are what cause the smell. I guess the anti-bacterial alcohol spray kills the bacteria and therefore the smell.
