I had a student, at VIR, driving a BMW Mini Cooper Clubman, with mods. He had left foot down, and was not only fast, but smooth. I explained to him that some DE groups don't allow Left Foot Braking, and that some instructors might give him a hard time (and it was one of those groups) but, because he showed me how confident he was, and he was, to go with what works for him. He was one of the best students I have had.
