The history of Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) is interesting.

The NCAA could not organize a three car funeral (which will be their own) and the rules governing scholarships, player movement, NIL, coaches being able to bolt at the drop of a hat, etc. were as antiquated as they were unfair.
Since no one is really in charge, NIL is a twisty, mountain road without guardrails.
There were dozens of better ways of establishing equity but the NCAA punted on 2nd down.
