The Parade autocross is just a mess. They flat tell you, expect to spend all day there, for three runs, and 20 minutes of getting through the three runs. It kills the entire day and my wife just has to sit around in the hotel. They always have the super competitive types with cars there are "track whores" with minimal interiors, and every possible brace, and aftermarket go fast part on them. I show up in a very comfortable fat pig of a car. My 911 is 2,741 pounds, and the competitive guys are at 2,200 with a car arriving on a trailer. I drive mine home over 1,000 miles with my wife in the passenger seat. If they had time deducted for every degree the AC drops the temp from ambient temp, I might have a chance. I don't think that is likely.
I only autocross on the Parades she does not attend. I have fun, but no chance at a top five finish.
Since she is coming, we have a nice drive-tour to go on and spend the time together.
At our local autocross I am not even close to the modern cars times. Even the new Cadillacs are fast. I was kidding with the autocross chairman that we need to have a handicap time. If the age of the car and the driver added together is over 100, it gets 10 seconds off the track time. Then I can be FTD.
There are several "kids" that are mid to late 30s driving a Cayman 718 GTS that are just fast. Still the fastest is one guy in his 2021 911 Turbo S. 600+ HP and full time 4 wheel drive is just a tad faster than my car.
I really don't care. I just autocross to have fun. I have an attic full of trophies, and I don't need any more.
