Holy moly. I have to assume (and hope) that the end was pretty much immediate. Although I think the problem with that is that you wouldn't really fall "in" the molten steel. I'm pretty sure you'd float on the surface which might take a few seconds longer to kill you. It looks like the melting temp of steel is >2500ºF. I'm guessing contact with it would cook you to the bone in seconds, and you probably wouldn't feel much. Still, heck of a way to go.
