I saw a bunch with that sort of vertical support. If you do an image search for adirondack chair, about 25-33% have the vertical back support, except that it's vertical instead of matching the angle of the seat back like in the chair posted in the first post. Visually, that's less appealing.

The shape and lines of the one in the first post is nice.
