In the mid 1960's Pontiac developed their aluminum OHC cylinder head / intake / exhaust set-up to bolt onto an existing Chevy 250 six short-block. Called the "Sprint OHC - 6" in 2 configurations, 190HP with a 1 bbl, 230HP with a 4bbl Quadrajet. It was the first production engine to use a cogged drive belt to drive the cam. The belt was co-engineered with Dayton. There were multiple patents filed by GM. Every engine manufacturer after that, employing a timing belt, had to pay royalties to GM!
