I'd mount the winch on the inside face of that stringer. The hinge for the door will be lower than the winch so I think there shouldn't be an issue with the angle. I'll rig up a quick simple pully and rope and validate by hand.
So the idea is winch operated by remote. Lower cable, attach to handle, open it, winch holds it open, when done lower it, unhook cable, retract cable into rafter so it's not visible when not in use.

Wouldn't you like to forgo a winch, just have a weight balanced system like how old window sash weights worked? If you got the weight and cam shape correct you could have it so the pulley friction held the door in place. Put a wood handle over the cable with crimps on either end and you could open/close naturally.
