We got pulled over one night. There was this guy that we hung out with, who was kind of a douche. We were all trying to play it cool and polite with the officer because we had a little bit of weed in the car , but were sober and not up to anything illegal, just pulled for speeding .
Our douche canoe buddy Jeff refused to show the officer his ID, and after a few minutes of haggling, he agreed to show the officer his Barnes and Nobles membership card.
The card said " Member " right across the top .
After looking over the id for a few minutes the officer hands it back to Jeff, and says " this id is correct, you are a member " .
We all laughed our butts off at the officers humor, he let us off with a warning, and Jeff's new nickname forever became "member "
I think of this interaction every time I hear the word member.
