You didn't mention if the "block" in the top pick is what you're actually screwing the bolt into.
In the other thread it looks like "stucco brick", not "block" like a cinder block, which is structural.
What I'd do is look for a place to screw wood blocking into the wall studs and use that blocking as the anchor. But do what makes you happy.
