I've got a serious question for techweenie. it's about my 69E sporto specifically. I guess you've seen it on my threads, for I've had it, worked on it for years. I never shared that the title was lost. I bought it like that. Last data here was 1975 on safety inspection DMV (only service manual found in the car showing 31 K) and windscreen stickers faded showing last inspection. Odo shows 42.5 now. 7 years ago I went to DMV with no title from a deceased first owner. They had no data on this car, completely off the radar. I spent 3K hiring a high up DMV official by introduction to get the title. It's a real long story, trying to keep it short. It's a Japanese dealer car invoiced to Mitsuwa motors 1/69. Car should stay, would sell better here was my hope. The bureaucratic process is just taking too much time and laws on these things title stuff more strict due to stolen cars in the past. We've got a number/safety inspection on the car, it's in the system DMV. I can drive it, but I can't register it yet or sell it here offically at an auction. My guy needs more time i.e. this case has to go before a judge.
Therefore, if I export the car which could roll on a boat, I can't according to law. It will have to have the motor out, doors, bonnet and lid off to qualify for parts car export. It will have to go 20ft container @ what 6k?
Herein is my question, if it came into the US to a buyer as such, it should clear alright. I have a receipt when I purchased the car, could give one to a buyer. How hard then for the USA buyer to get a US title? Thank you for any insights. By the way, this was the car I dreamed about putting your 73 RSR alloy pornographic bonnet on! It just wasn't cost efficient even though maybe the same light ivory? That's why I flogged it for you.
