Squishy foam plug works better than the plunger style for me anyway.
Indoors, plugs (see above) and muffs.
Outdoors, plugs only UNLESS my buddy is shooting his SCAR17 - while the brake really does reduce recoil OMFG is it loud. Louder than a .50 Barrett. Anyway, when he breaks the SCAR out I either step back off the line for a bit or I get muffs on top of the plugs.
