So I gave up and bought the Explorer.

I was *****ing about this to the guy and he said that, you weren’t anything special to a watch dealer unless you routinely dropped a quarter million dollars on some useless little extravagance.

When I first started buying serious watches 40 years ago, that market didn’t exist. Nowadays, the sky’s the limit and there are thousands of buyers out there buying and selling a dozen watches a year. 20 grand here, 75 grand there, certain watches get hot for a while and everybody has to have one and it’s just gotten ridiculous.

**** those guys and **** Rolex for catering to the stupid little bastards.
The Rolex "Hulk" is a prime example. No one wanted one when they were first released, then the watch guys started talking about them and then suddenly they're hot. At one point they were trading for well over double retail. Nearly $40k for a SS watch?
