Shelters are sometimes so full of chit, run by fanatical cat women that cannot see reason. They come up with these unreasonable demands. like cat must be in house alone.. because they think it's so sensitive it won't manage to live with others.
most cats will do just fine , they might not get along perfectly but if you look out for them as a hoomin, eventually thing will get figured out.
