Or, maybe you can place them on the pallet diagonally with the smaller, longer box on top. Strive to keep the boxes inside the footprint of the pallet and get them snugged down so they do not move and they won't move. Use that h/d cello wrap to bundle them together, then ratchet strap the bundle down to the pallet. Make sure the blades of the forklift can slide under the pallet easily and not grab the straps.

Good call. but I don't think diagonal is going to be enough length. If it's a standard 40"x48" pallet, the diagonal measurement will be 62" which is 5" short, not to mention the pointy corners of the long box.
