Gasoline was not 109/gallon in 1970. I recall gas wars and regularly paid 25 cents or less. At MCB El Toro and LTA I recall paying UNDER 20 cents.
So the equivalent cost at 36 cents a gallon is 2.70. And remember that was for 100% gasoline, not this diluted stuff we have today.
