I had the same problem with my HR sensor today. Usually it'll recognize it, but I had to restart the computer to get it to register.
Garmins are def. something one needs to put some effort into understanding and setting up. They paybacks are good though.
The temp sensor worked very well. 99 degrees and climbing. It was a short ride!
