We have a pitbull problem around here too
When they attack I hoist them up by the collar, hangman's style, and let my dogs extract revenge on it. They run out of air in about three seconds and go limp. Or if they don't have a collar pull it's front leg out sideways, sideways and upwards. That way the dog will never come right and you can claim you were just trying to pull the dog away from yours.
